How much does car shipping cost in Canada?
It depends on distance, vehicle size, transport type, and time of year. A short-haul move between neighbouring provinces costs less than a cross-country shipment. The fastest way to get an accurate number is to request a quote with your specific details.
What factors affect my car shipping quote?
The main factors are distance, vehicle dimensions, transport type, pickup and delivery method (door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal), and seasonal demand. Larger vehicles, enclosed carriers, and peak-season bookings cost more.

Transit Times and Scheduling Delivery timelines, booking windows, and status updates.
How long does it take to ship a car across Canada?
It depends on route and distance. Shipments between neighbouring provinces typically take 3 to 5 days. Cross-country moves like Toronto to Vancouver can take 7 to 10 days. We’ll give you a specific estimate when you request a quote.
Will I get a notification before pickup and delivery?
Yes. You’ll receive advance notice before the carrier arrives at both ends. Your driver will contact you with a pickup and delivery window so you know when to expect them.
What happens if no one is available at delivery?
Someone needs to be present to inspect the vehicle and sign the condition report at delivery. If you can’t be there, you can designate someone to receive the vehicle on your behalf. If no one is available, the driver may need to reschedule, which could result in storage or redelivery charges.
Do weather conditions affect delivery timelines?
They can. Canada’s winter weather can cause delays on certain routes, particularly in the Prairies and Atlantic provinces. If a delay occurs, we’ll notify you through Automoves ONE and provide an updated ETA. Weather-related delays are not considered a service failure.
Vehicle Preparation Required documents, vehicle preparation, and shipping checklists.
Do I need to prepare my car before shipping?
Yes. Remove all personal belongings, make sure the fuel tank is about a quarter full, and note any existing damage. Disable toll tags and alarm systems. If your vehicle is a convertible, make sure the top is secured. We’ll send a full checklist after booking.
Can I leave personal items in my car during shipping?
We strongly recommend removing all personal belongings. Items left in the vehicle are not covered by our in-transit insurance. Carriers may also refuse to load a vehicle with loose items inside, as they can shift during transport and cause damage.
What documents do I need for vehicle shipping?
You’ll need a valid photo ID and your vehicle registration. If you’re not the registered owner, you may need written authorization from the owner or lienholder. For financed vehicles, no additional paperwork is typically required beyond standard registration.
Coverage and Services Insurance coverage, door-to-door delivery, and service areas.
Where does Automoves ship?
We ship across every province and territory in Canada. Our network includes 17 terminal locations, with dedicated warehouses in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Halifax. Cross-border shipping to and from the US is also available.
Can you ship electric or hybrid vehicles?
Yes. We transport electric and hybrid vehicles regularly. Battery charge should be between 25% and 75% at pickup. Our climate controlled storage facilities also maintain stable temperatures for EV battery health during storage. Let us know your vehicle type when requesting a quote.
What transport types are available?
Open carrier and enclosed carrier. Open is the most common and affordable option. Enclosed provides added protection for high-value vehicles.
OEM & Fleet Transport Manufacturer, fleet, and high-volume vehicle programs.
Can your fleet transport services handle multi-drop deliveries?
Yes. Multi-drop, multi-origin, and single-corridor shipments are all part of how we plan vehicle distribution. We design routing around your delivery locations to keep fleet logistics efficient.
What’s the minimum number of vehicles for commercial fleet transport?
There’s no strict minimum. We work with fleet movers shipping anywhere from a handful of units to hundreds. Pricing improves with volume, but we’ll quote any size.
How does your vehicle transport company handle seasonal fleet volume spikes?
We plan capacity around peak periods like Q1 and Q3. For clients with predictable seasonal patterns, we can reserve dedicated carrier space in advance to support your fleet relocation needs.
Do you move non-standard vehicles as part of your commercial vehicle transport service?
Yes. Vans, service trucks, and specialized units are within our capacity. Our automotive transport services handle dimensions and configurations that standard carriers often can’t accommodate.
Can we integrate Automoves ONE with our internal vehicle logistics systems?
Talk to our fleet team about integration options. Automoves ONE provides real-time tracking, delivery confirmations, and reporting that can support your internal fleet logistics workflows.
Dealer & Wholesale Transport Inventory transfers, auction delivery, and dealer pricing.
How does bulk car shipping pricing work?
The more vehicles you ship on the same route, the lower your per-unit cost. We quote based on volume, route, vehicle sizes, and timing. Request a quote and a specialist will review the details with you.
How do I set up a dealer account with Automoves?
Contact our dealer transport team directly. We’ll discuss your shipping volume, preferred routes, and pricing structure. Once set up, you’ll have access to Automoves ONE for tracking, order history, and reporting across all your shipments.
How quickly can you pick up from an auction for a dealer?
It depends on the lot’s release schedule and carrier availability on that route. In most cases, we can coordinate pickup within a few days of the sale closing.
Can your vehicle transport company for dealers handle inter-provincial inventory transfers?
Yes. Our Canada car wholesale transport services cover inter-provincial moves of any size. We consolidate loads along common corridors to keep costs down and timelines tight.
Do you offer reporting or shipment history for dealer accounts?
Yes. Automoves ONE gives dealer clients access to order history, delivery confirmations, and tracking across all active shipments. It’s built for teams managing ongoing wholesale car transport.
What types of vehicles do you move for car dealer auto transport?
Everything from compact sedans to full-size trucks and luxury inventory. Open carrier works for most standard stock. Enclosed transport is available for high-value units.
Do you offer volume or recurring shipping rates?
We do. Dealers who ship consistently get better per-unit pricing and priority scheduling. Talk to us about setting up ongoing rates for your operation.
Enclosed Car Transport Covered, premium transport for high-value vehicles.
How is enclosed car shipping different from open?
An enclosed carrier is a fully covered trailer that shields your vehicle from weather, road debris, dust, and UV exposure. Open carriers are safe for most cars, but enclosed car transport offers a higher level of protection for vehicles that need it.
Can I request a single-vehicle trailer for supercar transport?
Yes. Single-vehicle and limited-capacity trailers are available as part of our white glove car transport service. This is common for high-value exotic and classic vehicles.
Do your enclosed car transport services cover car show vehicles?
Yes. We handle car show transport regularly. Covered car transport keeps your vehicle in show condition during transit, and we can coordinate pickup and delivery around event schedules.
What kind of tie-downs do you use for luxury car transport?
Soft tie-downs that secure the vehicle without contacting wheels or body panels. This prevents cosmetic damage during transit, which matters for luxury car transportation services, classic car shipping in Canada, and exotic car transport.
Do enclosed car shipping companies require a vehicle value minimum?
No. Any vehicle can be shipped enclosed. Most clients choose it for luxury, exotic, classic, or sentimental vehicles, but enclosed car shipping is available to anyone who wants the added protection.
Auction & Salvage Transport Auction pickups, salvage, and non-running vehicles.

What documentation do I need to release a vehicle from auction?
Requirements vary by auction house, but you’ll typically need proof of purchase, valid photo ID, and payment confirmation. Some lots also require a gate pass or buyer number. We coordinate with the lot directly, but make sure your paperwork is in order before scheduling pickup.
What if the auction lot hasn’t released the vehicle yet?
We coordinate directly with the lot on your behalf as part of our auction pickup services. Once the vehicle is released, we schedule pickup. If there’s a delay on the lot’s side, we’ll keep you updated.
Does inoperable vehicle shipping cost extra?
Yes. Non-running vehicles require winch car transport or specialized equipment, which adds to the cost. Let us know the vehicle’s condition upfront and we’ll include it in your quote.
Can your auction car shipping service pick up from insurance yards?
Yes. Insurance salvage hauling covers vehicles at insurance yards, collision facilities, and salvage lots. We handle the pickup logistics so you don’t have to.
What condition does my vehicle need to be in for salvage car transport?
We ship vehicles in almost any condition: running, non-running, damaged, or total loss. If you need to transport a wrecked car or move a car with a broken control arm, we can handle it. Just give us accurate details so we assign the right equipment.
Will my auction vehicle be shipped with other cars?
In most cases, yes. Auto auction transport vehicles are moved on multi-car carriers alongside other vehicles. Each one is secured individually and inspected before loading.
Personal Vehicle Shipping Shipping your own vehicle, relocations, and delivery options.
How far in advance should I book my car shipping?
We recommend booking at least a week ahead, especially during peak seasons like summer and snowbird season. That said, we can often accommodate shorter timelines depending on route availability.
Can I track my vehicle during transport?
Yes. Every shipment includes real-time tracking through Automoves ONE. You’ll have visibility from pickup to delivery without needing to call for updates.
Do you offer SUV shipping?
Yes. We ship SUVs regularly on routes across Canada. Rates remain identical to sedans, regardless of the size of your SUV.
What happens if my car is damaged during car transport?
Every vehicle is inspected and documented at pickup and delivery. If damage occurs during transit, it’s covered under our insurance. We’ll walk you through the claims process. Full details are on our Insurance & Liability page.
Can I use your car delivery service for a vehicle I bought from another province?
Yes. Used car delivery is one of our most common services. Give us the seller’s location and your delivery address, and we’ll handle the move. Door-to-door car shipping and terminal-to-terminal car shipping are both available.
Can I ship a car that is financed?
Yes. You can ship a financed vehicle as long as you’re the registered owner or have authorization from the lienholder. The financing status doesn’t affect our ability to transport it.
Vehicle Storage Secure storage options between pickup and delivery.
How much does vehicle storage cost?
It depends on vehicle size, storage type, and duration. Long term vehicle storage is more cost-effective per month than short term. Request a quote with your details for an exact number.
Is climate controlled storage necessary?
For most vehicles stored longer than a few weeks, yes. Heated vehicle storage prevents moisture buildup, battery drain, and temperature-related wear. For high end vehicles, electric vehicles, and classic cars, climate controlled vehicle storage is strongly recommended.
Can I access my vehicle while it’s in storage?
Yes. Let us know in advance and we’ll have your vehicle ready. Access is available during facility hours.
Do you offer storage combined with transport?
Yes. If you need your vehicle shipped to one of our facilities and stored, we can handle both. This is common for snowbird clients and out-of-province buyers who need temporary storage before delivery.
Do you offer vehicle storage near me?
We have storage facilities in three major cities: Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton. If you’re in or near any of these areas, we likely have a location close to you. Contact us with your postal code and we’ll confirm the nearest facility.
